Does Thanksgiving sneak up on you too?
I have the best of intentions every year…then suddenly I realize I’ve been more focused on menu planning and holiday prep than on cultivating a truly thankful heart.
I suspect I’m not alone.
Gratitude is something the Bible calls us to every single day, not just when the turkey hits the table.
That’s why I created this 30 Days of Thanksgiving: Cultivating Gratitude in a Self-Center World—a simple, Scripture-based journey to help us and our families pause, reflect, and give thanks in every season. Whether you’re doing this personally in your quiet time, with your kids around the dinner table, or even as a small group devotion, these daily prompts will guide you toward a deeper spirit of gratitude in the midst of this busy season.
Life is full and the holiday season is especially busy, busy, busy… We have SO much to do that it is easy to become self-centered. Please don’t misunderstand, that is not the same thing as selfish- and at this time of year we’re usually thinking of everyone else…so that is not self-centered like “oh, it’s all about me…”… But it’s easy to become consumed with all the thing *I* have to do. And we know they’re good things! It’s family, it’s tradition, it’s memories and honoring others… But even good things can be bad if they distract us from Jesus. So in this study you’ll find…
Each day contains:
A Bible verse on thankfulness
A short reflection or prompt
A simple keyword focus if you’re journaling, sharing online, or keeping track
Journals
I have partnered with Amazon and created a journal for you with 4 different cover options. It is not required…but created to put everything in one place for you and so that during your quiet time you are not distracted by electronics…Prepare for your quiet time, pick one and join us!
Think of this as a gratitude reset button—an intentional way to keep Jesus at the center of your Thanksgiving season. By the end of these 30 days, you’ll not only have a list of blessings, but also a heart tuned to recognize God’s goodness in the big and small moments of life.
So grab a journal, open your Bible, and let’s walk through these 30 Days of Thanksgiving: Cultivating Gratitude in a Self-Center World prompts together!
Read the Scripture, pray, and write your prayers and reflections. This is NOT meant to stress you, but rather to bless you! If life happens and you miss a day, just catch up…it’s ok. 🙂

Father, your goodness to us is more than we can begin to fathom! Forgive us for all the times we are so self-centered on our lives and this world that we forget or don't even notice your amazing grace, mercy & Goodness to us. As you finish this 30 Days of Thanksgiving: Cultivating Gratitude in a Self-Center World, my prayer is that gratitude doesn’t just stay on your page or in your journal—but that it overflows into your daily life. True thanksgiving is more than a holiday; it’s a posture of the heart. When we slow down, notice God’s hand in both the ordinary and extraordinary, and choose gratitude, we begin to live in the joy and peace He designed for us.
Remember, gratitude multiplies. When you write down your thanks, when you share it with your family, when you tell a friend how God has blessed you—thanksgiving becomes contagious! And in a world that often feels hurried and heavy, that light of gratitude can shine brightly for Christ Jesus.
Final Encouragement:
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
Colossians 3:15
May this season be more than meals and gatherings—may it be a turning of our hearts toward God, the Giver of every good gift.
If this challenge blessed you, I’d love for you to share it with a friend or pin it for later on Pinterest. Let’s spread the spirit of thanksgiving together!
